The Orbis School Transforms TEDx into a Powerful Real-World Experience for Students
In a rapidly evolving world where academic excellence alone is no longer sufficient, platforms that nurture critical thinking, self-expression, and leadership play a crucial role in shaping future-ready individuals. One such powerful platform is TEDx, which has emerged globally as a forum for sharing ideas that inspire reflection and change.
Unlike conventional competitions, TEDx is rooted in the philosophy of “ideas worth spreading.” It is not about rankings or trophies, but about exploring perspectives, questioning assumptions, and communicating ideas with clarity and confidence. Exposure to such platforms at a formative age helps students build curiosity, courage, and a strong sense of self-belief.
Learning through TEDx extends far beyond the classroom. Whether as speakers or audience members, students gain invaluable communication skills through powerful storytelling and structured ideas. The experience fosters confidence, emotional intelligence, and the ability to connect meaningfully with others. TEDx also exposes students to diverse viewpoints on topics such as climate change, technology, mental health, and social issues—sharpening their critical thinking and analytical abilities while nurturing social responsibility.
Reflecting these values, The Orbis School, Keshav Nagar, hosted TEDxOrbis School Youth on Saturday, 20th December 2025, under the theme “A Quiet Revolution.” The event featured thought-provoking topics including Minimising Modern Noise, Lateral vs Vertical Thinking, Gen Z Activism, War and Climate, and Breaking Free from Social Media Perfection.
Bright young speakers from schools across Pune shared original ideas with confidence and maturity. Participants included students from The Orbis School (Keshav Nagar and Mundhwa), The Orchid School, Knowledge Habitat, and MIT WPU, creating an engaging exchange of perspectives.
Students from Classes 8 and above played a central role in organising the event. The student IT team—Ayush Sao, Sumedh Mathkar, Shaurya Telang, and Avadhoot Patne, under the guidance of HOD Ms. Veronica Dorairaj—built the event’s digital presence, supported by the social media team led by Mr. Karan Ghare, who also managed logistics and vendors.
The TEDx logo, conceptualised and designed by students Akanksha Dasgupta and Sofiya Tamboli under the mentorship of Ms. Trina Bhattacharya, reflected creativity, design thinking, and alignment with the theme. Auditions and mentoring were led by Ms. Anjali Srivastava, Ms. Pushpa Bhat, Ms. Sukhjeet Kaur, Ms. Disha Chauhan, Ms. Olivia Mamani, and Ms. Farheen Shaikh, who invested hours in guiding and shaping authentic student voices.
The event was seamlessly anchored by student comperes Jitansh Jaiswal, Rudrani, Pakhi, and Chaitanya. Artistic performances—including dance, choir, instrumental music, and Zumba—added emotional depth to the ideas shared, under the guidance of Ms. Nidhi Dhume, Ms. Disha Chauhan, and Ms. Trina Bhattacharya.
Student duties, NCC volunteers, and seating arrangements were managed by Ms. Jyothi Pillay and Ms. Meenakshi Mukhi, while Ms. Neha Gupte and Ms. Sonika Babbar coordinated overall execution. The entire ideation, planning, and execution was led by Vice Principal Ms. Sheena Sethi.
Reflecting on the journey, the planning team shared, “Organising TEDxOrbis School was both challenging and deeply rewarding. Watching students emerge as confident thinkers and communicators was the true reward.”
Ms. Veronica Dorairaj noted, “A Quiet Revolution is unfolding through the silent strength of young people choosing knowledge and balance over despair.”
Audience and parent feedback echoed the event’s impact. Ms. Poonam Sahoo, an audience member, remarked, “Every moment was captivating. The confidence of the young speakers was remarkable.” Parents shared how the platform boosted curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning.
Student speakers described the experience as transformative—highlighting confidence building, exposure to diverse ideas, and the joy of sharing perspectives on a meaningful stage.
Through initiatives like TEDxOrbis School Youth, The Orbis School continues to reinforce its commitment to holistic education—empowering students to think deeply, speak confidently, and engage responsibly with the world beyond examinations.
